It goes without saying, but Tyler’s style of composition. At times, IGOR’s atmosphere is magnetically intricate and abstract others, it’s brash, disgruntled, and ridden with corny love tantrums. Behind shades, he is reserved and curious on stage, he‘s wild, elegant, and passionate. It really should earn Tyler a bunch of awards. IGOR is sullen and glum, yet electrified by love. I love when an album works well as a body of work rather than a collection of singles, and IGOR epitomises that approach to albums. Tyler produces the whole thing and he's done a fantastic job, it's a really nice album musically. Sonically the album draws heavily on synth and soul inspirations and there is really cohesive feel to the album. It was released on May 17, 2019, through Columbia. He is constantly reinventing not only himself, but the entire soundtrack to whatever concept he sees in his head. The album, which has sold over 1,000,000 copies, continues to cement Tyler, the Creator as one of the most influential artists of this generation. I was aware of a few of his earlier tracks, and knew he was a talented artist, but a lot of his older content wasn't really for me (although it certainly would have been for the teenage me!) I only listened to this album after stumbling across the video of A Boy Is A Gun* on YouTube. The album was voted the Genius community’s Best Album of 2019, surpassing Ariana Grande’s thank u, next and Billie Eilish’s WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?.I'm what you might call a 'new Tyler fan'.
